Welcome to Valley Road Vineyards in Afton, Virginia – located at the north end of the famed Nelson 151 craft beverage corridor. We are just 20 minutes from Charlottesville to the east and Staunton to the west – easily accessible via Interstate 64 and Route 250.

GREAT VIEWS

Spend an hour sipping wine in one of our red Adirondack Chairs. Or bring a picnic and make it a day! All while enjoying fresh air, vineyard vistas, billowy clouds, and beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. 

Our 36-acre campus offers a choice of indoor and outdoor seating:

SIP: Our Tasting Room in a renovated Farmer’s Market

The Patio and Pavilion: Open-air seating and adjoining covered outdoor seating – both featuring our Sonos sound system. We often have live music — check our Calendar.

The Grove: The front yard of our 1890’s farmhouse. Perfect for a romantic picnic, group gatherings, or couples with children.

The Lodge: Available for rental by private parties up to 10 persons. Enjoy the comfort of this private, elegant building – including soft seating, a bar area for your picnic supplies, private restroom, and deck overlooking The Lawn with the Blue Ridge in the distance. $100 for two hours, plus $100 minimum wine purchase.

GREAT WINES

We feature several self-guided Tasting Flights. We also sell a full menu of White, Rosé, Red, and Sparkling Wines by the glass and bottle. Seasonal offerings such as Frosé and Sangria are popular in the summer and Mulled Wine is offered in cooler weather.

Are you currently offering wine tastings?

We offer Private Tastings for your group in a private setting. Featuring six wines, plus a logo glass, these are presented by one of our knowledgeable Vinistas, a Private Tasting is $28 per person plus 20% gratuity. In addition, you may select one of several Tasting Flights for purchase at the walk-up bar or via our contact-free GoTab© system to enjoy at your seat. We also serve a full menu of White, Rosé, Red, and Sparkling Wines by the glass and bottle.

How do I order?

Walk-Up Bar: Our Vinistas are at the walk-up bar in the SIP Tasting Room. Follow the signs to enter the line, make your selections and pay, and pick up your order.

Do you have food service?

We do not have a restaurant, but offer a wide array of grab-and-go charcuterie, cheeses, dips, crackers, chips, nuts, and non-alcoholic beverages. Add a warm, fresh Marie Bette baguette and you've got a picnic!

In addition, we have partnered with Sal's Pizza in Crozet to serve their fresh 9" personal pizzas (note: availability is limited).

And you are always welcome to bring your own picnic / outside food and non-alcoholic refreshments.

However, only Valley Road Vineyards wines purchased during your visit are permitted and may be consumed while on our property.

Do you allow pets?

Dogs are welcome, but only outside and always on leash, please!

Are children allowed at Valley Road Vineyards?

Children of all ages are welcome – but we kindly ask that they remain with their parents and are supervised during the visit to ensure their safety and create an enjoyable experience for all of our guests.

Do you provide entertainment?

Our Sonos system provides great music 7 days a week.

What should we bring?

On busy weekends, you are encouraged to bring blankets or folding chairs to enjoy outside seating without a wait.

During cooler months, please wear layers of warm clothing if you choose to enjoy outdoor seating. And, again, a few blankets would be a good idea!

How do Curbside Sales work?

Simply call 540-456-6350 from your car or home to place and pay for your order in advance (a Virginia ABC requirement). When you arrive at Valley Road, please follow the signs, driving counter-clockwise around the property to the front door of our Tasting Room. We’ll come out with your order and place your wine in a cargo area of your car.

Curbside Pick-Up is available 7 days a week during operating hours and there is no minimum purchase.

Can we hold our Photo Shoot at Valley Road Vineyards?

We are proud of the beauty of our campus and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains and are happy to share these views with winery guests. However, any photography shoots — whether informal or with a professional photographer — are NOT allowed unless prior authorization has been requested and written approval received from the winery.
